Sometimes it can be tricky finding activities to keep the kids busy during summer break, when it is too hot to be outside for outdoor activities. The girls love doing art and craft together , and we can find many websites sharing all fun and easy projects that includes tutorials and printable patterns. Here some of the activities that we did recently..

First Day of Ramadhan

Ramadhan Kareem everyone !

Maryam has started to learn fasting today. She woke up for suhoor and stay up until Fajr to perform prayer with me. Alhamdulillah Allah swt make it easy for her as she managed to fast until noon time.

Meanwhile, for this Ramadhan we try to create awareness and teach the kids about the blessedness of Ramadhan in an easy and simple way sndkeep them occupied by doing Ramadhan related activities throughout the month. Before the Ramadhan arrives, we have introduced them about fasting, suhoor, salah, charity and sunnah in Ramadhan.

As for today, we were learning about the phases of the moon and how we tell when the Ramadhan has arrived. We also did a simple experiment to explain about the concept.

Family Travels Wall Map

Hubby came out with brilliant idea to make our family travel map. We purchased the world map at the book store , and got it framed. Once the frame is ready, then the really fun part began. We started pinning every country that we had been, and glued our pictures onto the map. We haven’t yet finished, as we still need to look up some of old photos in the iPhotos, but I’m delighted with how it turned out.

Online reading

The kids are book lovers, and since they are homeschooled now, we have limited access to the resources. We don’t have plentiful of books or other reading material on shelves to read.

Just recently we’ve started to read online, using the digital library that have easy access to hundreds of books online. Most of the website need to be subscribed over monthly or yearly subscription,  but that’s totally worth every penny.

Below are some of the websites for your reference.

Summer in Saudi

You know summer has arrived in Saudi when the second you step outside you feel as if you’ve walked into a convection oven , and the gush of wind feels like someone is blasting the hair dryer on your face on full HEAT. The temperature is around 45degree C  that can goes up to 50degree C and above. However, summer sun never stop the kids to get out, they love to spend hot days splashing water in a pool and yeah they get really tanned now !
Here are some of the pictures during the pool party that we had last weekend. They had so much fun !
